Ghana national team coach Milovan Rajevac says that people should not read much into their 0-0 draw against Malawi on Tuesday in an international friendly played in Swaziland.
Rajevac tells KickOff.com that he was just trying to see how his players will do in Angola and that he has now seen where they need to improve.
“Despite playing to a draw, we have achieved what we wanted to achieve and that is to look at all the players, particularly the ones from the Under-20s.
“I am happy and I am not worried that we drew with Malawi. Things will be different in Angola and we will fight for the trophy as well,” Rajevac said.
His counterpart from Malawi, Kinnah Phiri said that the draw against Ghana was a blessing in disguise as they will have to win their first game against Algeria.
“If we had won here players would have relaxed a bit. We did very well but that was not what we wanted. A win could have boosted us, but at the same time the draw is good. They will now go all out to win against Algeria in the opening game,” Phiri added.
The two teams played in Swaziland following an invitation from Swaziland’s 2010 Committee whose CEO Gciniwe Fakudze said they were planning to host a number of countries just before the World Cup in June.
“We are glad that both Malawi and Ghana were happy with the hospitality in the country and that is a good marketing for us to have countries camping here just before the World Cup.”
