Nana Wiafe Akenten III, the paramount chief of the Offinso Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to sack his aide, Stan Dogbe after he allegedly leaked a confidential document on the conditions of service for doctors.
The chief said if it is found that the presidential staff leaked the striking doctors' confidential information, then he must be punished.
The traditional ruler said Stan Dogbe’s alleged action was a total betrayal of the trust the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) had in the president.
He insists that the document was officially submitted to the president for his perusal and action and found it shocking that a staff at the presidency could have access to it and worse, go ahead to leak it.
Meanwhile, Nana Wiafe Akenten has appealed passionately to the striking doctors and other health professionals to call off their strike for the sake of the poor people of Ghana who are battling various diseases and sickness.
He advised the Mahama-led government to set up a technical advisory committee to draw up satisfactory conditions of service for the striking doctors to improve health delivery in the country.
The eminent chief said the myriad problems confronting the nation point to the fact that God is angry with Ghana for despising his rules including, truthfulness, honesty, patriotism and accountability which are necessary for national progress.
The chief who is also a Christian spoke to the Ashanti Regional Manager of the Daily Guide newspaper, James Quansah when he presented copies of his maiden book titled, "The Marks of True Christian Worshippers" to him and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Offinso last Friday.
The DAILY GUIDE employee was accompanied by Nana Nanabayin Ninsin-Imbeah II, ex-Nyimfahene of Mfansteman Council in Ashanti.
In his brief advice to the auhtor, the traditional ruler said, men of God have the responsibility of speaking the truth of the Word of God to help shape the destiny of the country.
While advising the clergy to refrain from dabbling in partisan politics, Nana Wiafe Akenten III, called on heads of churches to unite and declare a three-day fasting and prayers for the country, trusting that God will be merciful to the country.
He said God is the giver of true wisdom which is needed for national cohesion and development, stressing that, "We need to seriously meditate on God, seek him through prayers and fasting to receive wisdom to solve our national problems".
The Offinso paramount chief explained how God has been merciful to the Offinso community after he recently organised pastors and declared a three-day fasting to pray for the development of the area.
He wondered why many Ghanaian pastors are failing to unite and pray to plead God's forgiveness and pardon for the sins of the people especially the leaders.
"Ghanaians should humble themselves and cry unto God. There is so much pride, corruption, hatred, covetousness and other evil deeds in both religious and secular institutions of the country. And we cannot do much without God," he said.
He condemned the current trend of politics in the country in which everything is politicized with insult, name-calling, propaganda and campaign of calumny.
"The politicisation is just getting out of hand. We are destroying everything by our dirty politics. Today, politics is even destroying the church. This s not good and must be discouraged", the chief said.
He wondered why many Ghanaians who call themselves religious people should organise demonstrations and write very insulting words on placards to insult political heads and other opinion leaders.
He also charged the media to be fair, truthful and circumspect in the discharge of their duties, urging them to promote unity and peace to facilitate national development.
