The Kaneshie Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Achim Gyimah has challenged victims of June 3 flood to see the disaster as the opportune time to strengthen their relationship with God and also resort to hard work.

He noted that suffering is part of a Christian life but those who put their hope in Christ are encouraged and directed by the Holy Spirit to withstand and come out of their predicament stronger.

He cited the cases of Job and Joseph who lived according to the words of God in difficult times, and God revealed himself to them in the end because they did not succumb to sin.

Apostle Achim Gyimah was speaking to myjoyonline.com last week when the Kaneshie Area donated unspecified amount and cloths to its members who were affected by the June 3 fire and flood disaster in Accra.

“This is the time to cry unto God and live according to his words like Job did,” he stated.

He noted that the current generation is in a “dark world” and as the Holy Bible predicted in Matthew 24, there would be wars, pestilence, famine, and disasters among others.

According to the Apostle of God, this is the time for people to exhibit their true Christian way of worship. “We must have compassion for victims of disasters because the true Christian worship is to support persons affected by disaster or are in trouble,” he explained.

He charged pastors within the Area to rally support for the victims in their District to top up what the Area has given them. He underscored that if the leadership of the Church fails to show concern they have failed in their duty to represent God on earth.

Apostle Achim Gyimah however admonished the victims to also eschew laziness as many are fond of using momentary challenge as a reason to always look up to people for charity.

He encouraged the victims not to allow the disaster to dampen their spirit as he prophetically declared that when they are able to put their God-endowed talent into action God will definitely see them through.

Pastor Elijah Mahama Akpanyi, Area Welfare Committee Chairman, noted that when the leadership toured the areas the victims live to get a firsthand information of the devastating incident, it was discovered that some lost properties completely.

The tour led by the Area Head included Elders Kofi Essel, Samuel Mike Dwamena and Deaconess Juliana Owusu.

He said after the tour, about 200 members were found to be in dire situation aside the documented 284 victims who were assisted last week.

He assured that the Church will do it best to cover everybody affected by the twin disaster.
