The Adenta police have arrested the three remaining suspected land guards who have, for the past few years, been harassing residents of East Adenta.
The land guards were arrested Wednesday following reports they had assaulted some residents.
According to a resident, they have been selling off properties belonging to residents on the orders of one Seth Alabi Terman, who claims ownership of the said lands.
The leader of the land guards Adamu Alhassan is already in the grips of the police for narcotics possession and is currently before the courts.
The resident expressed their satisfaction with the arrest and hoped that the suspects will be tried as soon as possible.
“We are very…grateful for that effort because since their leader was arrested and placed in custody, the boys have been so stubborn that if you happen to pass by their hideout, you are in trouble,” a resident complained.
He narrated the story of another resident who the land guards hit on the hand with a heavy baton. Although the police have been on the lookout for the assailants, they have always been on the run.
Secretary to the East Adenta Residents Association, Ben Boafo, said a mob of land guards was once detailed to come and lynch him, but when they failed to grab him, they set fire to his house.
