A 25-year old farmer from Enyan-Maim in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam (AEE) District, Kwame Mensah, was on Friday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a circuit court in Cape Coast for defiling a 13-year old class three pupil.
The court, presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah, also ordered Mensah who pleaded guilty to defilement, to compensate the victim with GH¢200.00.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Francis Ockom told the court that on Saturday January 30, this year at about 1315hrs, the convict sent the victim to buy kenkey for him and when she returned he asked the girl to send it to his bedroom.
He said the moment the girl entered, Mensah rushed on her in the room, locked the door and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her but the girl's screaming attracted neighbours who went to her rescue.
Chief Inspector Ockom said the neighbours sent the girl to her relatives who reported the matter to the police and Mensah was later arrested.
