Three out of the 22 magistrates and circuit court judges suspended on allegations of bribery have been cleared of wrongdoing at disciplinary committee proceedings of the Judicial Council.
Prestea circuit court judge Frank Ashitey Addo, Tepa circuit court judge Kaakyire Ackah Owusu and Kofi Ahiagbor were acquitted Thursday afternoon after watching the video evidence cataloguing the alleged act.
Frank A. Addo was a victim of mistaken identity as he is alleged to have taken a bride in Kasoa. But he has never lived in Kasoa or served as a judge in the Central regionl town.
In the case against the Tepa judge, it was found that there was no record of the case in which he is alleged to have taken a 1000 cedis bribe.
This bring the number to 18 judges and magistrates implicated in bribery scandal.
They are expected to confirm or deny the identity of the judge in the video and also confirm or deny if they received bribes.
The Judicial Council will take its decision of each judge depending on the responses they give at the hearing.
“They are not looking happy” Joy News’ Elton John Brobbey reported.
