A two-year-old baby buried alive in a shallow, unmarked grave has been rescued by police at Komenda in the Central Region.
The baby girl, according to reports, was abandoned by his parents after they had discovered she was visually impaired, deaf and dumb.
But she was miraculously rescued after someone heard her crying in a nearby bush. The woman with the help of a few people saved the baby.
The baby was rushed to the Cape Coast Government Hospital where she received emergency medical treatment.
Dr. Mariama Bukari who attended to the baby, in an interview with Adom News’ Kafui Justice said she is responding to treatment.
She indicated that the baby was unconscious when they brought her to the hospital, but now in a stable condition.
Dr. Bukari said due to the birth defect, the baby will need assistance for the rest of her life.
Meanwhile, the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abremu Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Godfred Asare said they have begun investigating the matter.
He said police is on a manhunt for the parents of the baby for them to face the full rigorous of the law.
Superintendent Asare called on residents of Komenda to volunteer information to enable them apprehend the couple who committed such hideous crime.
