President John Mahama will Wednesday address the 70th United Nations General Assembly to make a case for the adoption of the new Sustainable Development Goals.
The world leaders have set 2030 as the deadline for the achievement of the development goals.
The President will be joining hundred Heads of State and Governments to make a case for the adoption of new developmental goals.
The September 30th General Assembly will be on the theme “The United Nations at 70 – The road ahead for peace, security and human rights”.
On September 28, President Mahama addressed High Level Summit for the adoption of the Post 2015 Development Agenda in New York ahead of today’s General Assembly sitting.
He said Africa has a lot of natural resources which the world can tap into, adding the continent can be more than a producer of basic goods that others refine.
He stressed on the need for European countries, in particular, to assist with relocating more companies to Africa, if the world is really committed to end the tide of young Africans seeking work in developed countries.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians living in the United Sates are threatening to demonstrate against the President as he addresses the UN.
They claim the President has kept mute on a wide range of national issues including, calls for a new voters register ahead of the 2016 election.
