Mr. Awudulai Razak, Kintampo North District Chief Executive, has urged assembly members to educate the people on their tax obligation to boost revenue collection towards development.
He said "The people will have to be educated on the need to pay their taxes and also to help mobilize more revenue and resources to enable the various assemblies to initiate more projects."
Mr. Razak who was speaking at the end of a two-day sessional meeting of the Kintampo North Assembly, at the weekend, noted that the district assemblies could not depend on the common fund alone for the development.
He therefore, called on members and unit committee members to jointly support revenue collectors to enable them to work effectively.
Mr. Razak appealed to drivers who aided traders to invade tax on goods to stop the practice and warned that those caught would not be spared.
Mr. James Manu, Presiding Member of the Assembly, called on the people to keep their environment clean to prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases.
He noted that education formed the foundation for development, and advised parents to take advantage of the Government's Capitation Grant and enrol their children in school.
Mr. Manu advised the people to register with the District Mutual Health Insurance scheme so that they could have access to good quality health.Source: GNA
