The Ghana Football Association today dismissed reports that Inter Milan manager, Jose Mourinho will be making a sensational trip to the 2010 World Cup finals as part of the technical set-up of the Black Stars.
A report by the state-owned newspaper, the Graphic Sports on Friday claimed that the Portuguese had agreed to a $1 million fee to assist Ghana’s bench at the tournament.
But spokesperson for the FA, Randy Abbey says the publication should be treated as untrue and baseless.
“These publications should be disregarded in the first place. The source of the agreement remains unknown to us (Ghana Football Association),” the FA spokesperson said to www.ghanafa.org.
“We are going to the World Cup with Milovan Rajevac, whom the FA has faith in.
“We have lots of respect for Jose Mourinho likewise we have for Rajevac, a wonderful coach who is out there doing his job ahead of the World Cup.
“Ghana’s plans to the World Cup does not include Mourinho and no such decision has been taken to call on any technical person for assistance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan official, Andrea Butti has confirmed to the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi that Jose Mourinho is still contracted to them for two more years, ruling out the possibility of a World Cup role.
