Mobile Money Solution, Tigo Cash grew more than five-fold in volume of transactions last year.
It recorded over 35 million transactions in 2015 compared with 7,962,078 million in 2014.
This follows the continuous investment in product enhancement and empowerment of agents to educate customers.
According to the General Manager for Tigo Cash, Kwame Oppong “Lower barriers of entry coupled with our strong drive for mobile wallet adoption and improved value chain were major contributors to the high number of transactions we chalked last year.”
He added the company’s aim is to further drive its cashless agenda by helping customers see and experience the clear tangible benefits of digital payments.
“We are happy to be at the forefront of financial inclusion in Ghana, and we will continue to offer innovative payment solutions for customers and businesses. We believe in an economy where citizens can transact all types of business online or via phone.”
With more than 12,000 agents nationwide, Tigo Cash records over three million transactions every month and has successfully brought banking to the unbanked.
The mobile payment solution has seen a significant growth since its launch in 2011 – having been adjudged the most preferred mobile money wallet by traders, famers and several others in the informal sector.
Today, the mobile money wallet service does not only provides customers with the opportunity to use their mobile phones to send and receive money but enables the purchase of airtime even on other mobile networks as well as regular payment such as DSTV bills.
