This year’s Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship tees off at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday, September 4 and on Sunday,
September 5.
Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, General Manager of the Tema Country Golf Club, who announced this at Tema on Monday said about 180 amateur and professional golfers throughout the country are expected to participate in the two-day 36-Hole Scratch event which will be sponsored by Millicom Ghana Limited.
He said this year, PHC Motors added colour to the event by putting two Tata cars at stake for amateur golfers with Handicap five and above who place “Eagle” on Hole Nine and Eighteen.
The General Manager said the competition which was in its eighth edition would be played in accordance with the international rules and the local rules of the Tema Country Golf Club.
Among an array of golfers expected to be seen in action are Leonard Kweku Okyere, E.T. Mensah, Alex Fiagomey, Paul Owusu-Baah and Felix Owusu-Agyepong all of Tema.
The Achimota Golf Club’s team which would be led by their Captain, Mike Aggrey would include N.K. Quarshie, Mike Ben-George, H. A. Gouvinus and Charles Tabi.
There would also be prizes for “Longest Drive” and “Nearest to the Pins” on Hole 17 and 18 respectively.
Vincent Cofie, Veteran Mona Myles-Lamptey and Victor Brave-Mensah would be defending the trophies they won last year in the Men’s, Ladies and Professional’s sections respectively.
Officials of the Ministry of Communications are expected to grace the occasion.
Mr Bismark Inja, Board Chairman of Millicom Ghana Limited would be assisted by Mr Kweku Okyere, Captain of Tema Club to present the trophies to the winners.
