Ghana received arguably the highest number of terror alerts within the week and the Electoral Commission has been criticized for its new logo.

Monday witnessed the news of prophecy by popular Nigerian Prophet TB Joshua that that there was an imminent terrorist attack on Ghana and Nigeria.

He asked members of his Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) on Sunday to pray against the planned ‘foreign attacks’.

But the Christian Council in response to this said Ghana’s security should not be run on the basis of prophecies.

The General Secretary of the Council, Rev. Dr Opuni Frimpong in an interview with Joy News said security agencies in Ghana are not doing enough to avert possible terror attacks.

But the Police in a statement assured the general public of safety even in the wake of the prophecy.

Also on Monday, the Narcotics Control Board said it was initiating steps to confiscate the assets of cocain convict Nayele Ametefe.

The High Court in Accra on Tuesday said the state could go ahead to extradite British fugitive David McDermott for allegedly smuggling 400 kilogrammes of cocaine to the United Kingdom (UK).

And residents of Agogo in the Ashanti Region embarked on a demonstration to pile pressure on the government to drive out nomadic herdsmen in the area who have been accused of burning farms, murder, and rape.

Streets in Agogo had a thick stream of protesters, including religious and traditional leaders, clad in black and red clothes.

Also on Tuesday, news about some 22 students of Wesley Girls’ High School being caught engaging in occult activities broke.

And on Tuesday night, the mortal remains of late Jacob Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey arrived in Ghana.

The family of the immediate past NPP Chairman and the leadership of NPP were at the Kotoka International Airport to receive the remains.

On Wednesday, the GES called for the withdrawal of occult books from schools. But the Board of Wey Gey Hey in a statement debunked the reports that students had been caught engaging in occultism.

Also, a civil society group, Citizen Ghana Movement won a case against the Attorney General at the Human Rights Court in Accra ordered the AG make available the contract with Smarttys Production over the 116 branded Metro Mass buses to the group.

And the Electoral Commission unveiled its new logo ahead of the November 7 polls.

On Thursday, some opposition political parties described the new logo of the Electoral Commission (EC) as a waste of time.

According to them, the EC should be more interested in addressing issues relevant to the November 2016 polls rather than embarking on “unnecessary” things such as its logo.

It also emerged that the proposed logo of the EC is similar to that of a Turkey-based career counseling institution.

Also, the Information Services Department (ISD) began a two-week “Terror Alert” campaign across the Volta Region in respect of a terror alert issued by security agencies.

On Friday, the final funeral rites of the former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency, the late J.B Danquah Adu began.

His body was laid in state at the Forecourt of the State House for family, friends and colleagues to file past it.

Many Dignitaries including the two former presidents, President John Dramani Mahama, NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his running mate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other political giants were there to bid him farewell.

And to end the week, the acting Kwahumanhene, Nana Asiedu Agyemang III declared his support for President John Mahama.

He said given the good works the President has done for the people of Kwahuman and the entire country, he deserves to be given another four-year term.
