Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is thrilled to have drawn Medeama SC in the play-off of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Sundowns missed the chance to qualify into the group stages of Caf Champions League due to away goal rule, despite securing a 2-1 win over AS Vita in the second leg.
Medeama on the on the other hand eliminated Sudanese side Al Ahly Shendi 2-0 on Wednesday and will now play Brazillians in the play-off round.
“Unfortunately we don’t know much about them ( Medeama SC), we came to Ghana two times and we played Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak and Dwarfs so those are the teams we know,” said coach Mosimane in an exclusive interview with Joy Sports
“We don’t know much but it is always difficult playing a Ghanaian side because we know Ghana as a football country and for me I’m always happy to come there.
“We will try and get videos of Medeama as soon as possible and look at their play and plan for them. It was just unfortunate we couldn’t make it into the group stage of the CAF Champions league but now we find ourselves in the Confederation Cup, we will do everything possible to progress to the next stage of the competition.”
Medeama SC will travel to South Africa for the first leg on the weekend of 6-8 May before entertaining Sundowns in the second leg on May 18 at the Sekondi Essipong stadium in the Western Region of Ghana.
