The Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor wants the public to support  the police to enable them function more effectively.

According to him, inadequate logistics and accommodation hamper effective policing across the country.

The IGP was speaking at a ceremony to officially open a one-storey District Police Command Headquarters for the East Legon Police.

The post was built for the police by the East Legon Fitness Club.

“Office as well as residential accommodation appears to be insurmountable problem facing the Ghana Police Service. It is for this reason that the Police Administration is grateful for this beautiful edifice,” he said.

He also urged the public to provide more vehicles for the police service, adding although "government has done a lot for the service with respect to provision of vehicles" the service needed more assistance.
