A 24-year-old unemployed, Robert Dotse, has been arraigned before the Asamankese Circuit court for defiling a 12-year-old girl.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in prison custody until June 19.
Detective Police Chief Inspector Xystus Okorley told the court that Dotse and his victim lived in the same house at Awotse, a suburb of Suhum.
On the night of April 23 when the girl was sleeping, Dotse sneaked into the room and forcibly had sex with her.
The following day, the girl's mother detected bloodstains in her dress and when she questioned her she mentioned Dotse as having defiled her.
A report was made to the police and Dotse was arrested.
