GPL PREVIEW: Kotoko to build on momentum against tepid Dwarfs

Momentum is on the side of the Procupine Warriors, and they will like to use the victory over Hearts as a rallying point to beat the hapless Dwarfs at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Stand-in coach Michael Osei has a small headache, however. Key men Edwin Tuffour Frimpong and Evans Quao will not be available due to suspensions.

Injury will also rob him of centre back Richard Osei Agyeman while captain and right back Amos Frimpong is with the local Black Stars. But Ahmed Adams has been back in camp.

“I have to commend Adams. He’s done so well. We wanted him to stay back and return to our fold,” Osei said.

“We had a situation at hand, there have been suspensions and injuries in the squad.

“Evans Quao has been suspended, Edwin Tuffour is also suspended and Osei Agyeman is yet to fully recover from his injury. So in central defence, Kotoko were left with only Ohene Brenya, that’s why we called on coach Maxwell Konadu to release Adams. He did and Adams accepted to join us, foregoing the Japan trip and all the experiences and benefits that come with it,” he added.

The 26-year-old had been called up to play a Japan U23 side in an international friendly on May 11 in the Far East.

Meanwhile, Dwarfs will be shorn of the directness of forward Joseph Esso while the result of a late fitness test for Bright Luqman is yet to be known.
