Leaders on the supporters front of Ashantigold, Oti Akenten. has urged head coach Bashir Hayford not to return to the club after his proposed three months leave.
According to Akenten, the reigning coach of the year has nothing more to offer to the club.
For him, a new coach could transform the ailing fortunes of the league champions.
“For now everything is on course at the club because the management called us and had some discussions with them us the information we got later was that Coach Bashiru Hayford has submitted a letter to the club requesting to go on three months leave," he told Asempa Sports
“He had enough rest after winning the league last season but I don’t know the reason why he submitted the letter because the league is ongoing and it very obvious things are very difficult for the club because we did not start well and we are now on the 14th position and if he has submitted the letter to the management of the club, then he shouldn’t return back to the club.”
“Each and every day the club keeps on retrogressing and we have seen changes in some teams when their coaches left and the team started performing and start getting expected results so if he has requested to go on leave then he should not come back because if care is not taken he will take the club to relegation.”
“He made some recommendations to buy some players before the start of the season and we got the players he requested but still the team is not performing and that was why we were calling for a drastic change in the team.”
Ashantigold have been bundled out of the FA Cup and their chances of retaining the league title remains slim.
