District Assemblies are to develop uniform guidelines for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of their Medium Term Development Plans from 2006 to 2009 towards the attainment of the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy II (GPRS II).
These targets are to develop private sector competitiveness, human resource development, good
governance and civic responsibility.
Addressing a workshop at Ho organized by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) for officers of the District Planning Coordinating Units (DPCUs) on Monday, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Kwaku Nayan, said the uniform guidelines would ensure an effective, efficient and integrated system for tracking the progress of programmes and projects in the districts.
He said the aim was to generate timely reports to the NDPC and other stakeholders through the Regional Planning Coordinating Units (RPCUs).
Mr. Jonathan Azasoo, Senior Planning Analyst of the NDPC, said the uniform guidelines would also help identify implementation problems, challenges and lessons and provide a reliable nationwide indicators vital for reformulating and where necessary change policies.
