The Eastern regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended its warm wishes to the Muslim community as they step into the holy of Ramadan.
The party is urging Muslims to pray for politicians, especially Muslims in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who they claim have resorted to politics of lies against their opponents.
A statement signed by the regional communications officer of the party, Baba Jamal Korneh also urged Muslims to pray for peaceful elections and an eventual victory for president Mahama.
Below is the full statement.
Press release
National Democratic Congress (NDC), E/R.
Today marks the beginning of Ramadan and in Quran 2:183 the Lord says, "O you who believe, observing As-Saum(fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious)".
The Eastern Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress wishes all Muslims in the region the best throughout the Ramadan period.
We urge you to pray for peaceful elections, attainment of agenda 50/50 and eventual one touch victory for President John Dramani Mahama.
We also want you to ask forgiveness for our Muslim brothers in the NPP who believe lies can win them power hence peddling of falsehood against the government. The Quran is against lies.
