President John Dramani Mahama has promised the people of Greater Accra Region of an improved transportation in the capital with a new bus system.
The system, Ayalolo Bus Service is aimed at easing the challenges commuters face in accessing transportation services in Accra.
“The buses have arrived; you can see the buses at the back there. The terminal has been completed. Ayalolo bus service, a very appropriate name for this system,” he told residents of Amasaman, a suburb of Accra during his “Accounting to the people” tour.
Mahama had earlier cut his tour of the Greater Accra Region short following the death of his mother, Hajia Abiba Nnaba on June 14, but resumed on Tuesday, June 24 with a visit to major places in Accra.
He had before reaching Amasaman, toured Madina where he met the chiefs and market women to interact with them. He promised the market women government has plans afoot to adjust the current electricity tariffs to ease the hardship in the system.
In Mahyia, a suburb of Accra, President Mahama said: “we have completed a new water system that is providing Mahyia with water.”
According to him, the government is collaborating with officials of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to connect the “Nsawam’s water system to Amasaman so that we can increase the amount of water that Nsawam is receiving.”
“We are going to speed up that project,” he promised.
From Amasaman, President headed to Atomic with his entourage where he inspected ongoing construction on the 100-bed capacity new district hospital.
He later went to Nima to interact with the people and went to Ridge all in Accra.
