Akufo-Addo tours flood areas and sympathizes with victims
The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo has toured the Buipe Township and some surrounding communities in the Central Gonja District which have been hit by severe flooding as a result of heavy rain fall in the area, rendering several thousands homeless.
The visit was to help Nana Akufo-Addo assess the extent of damage caused by the floods.
Nana Akufo-Addo’s first stop was the Buipe junction where close to 100 houses in the area had been submerged as a result of the recent heavy down pour.
His presence in the area attracted hundreds of residents who rushed onto the streets to catch a glimpse of Nana Akufo-Addo and welcome him and his entourage as they walked through the area to assess the extent of damage and sympathise with the victims.
Several activities in these areas have come to a halt as market places, farmlands, schools and mosques have all been affected by the rain.
This has compelled some residents to resort to the use of canoes to move to safer places.
The situation was the same in Jipala and the Worato communities when Nana Akufo-Addo entourage got there.
One of the victims, Abas Ibn Adam who is also a butcher said his family of 11 in the Buipe zongo had been displaced by the flood whiles his house and yam farm had all been totally submerged.
He thanked the NPP flag bearer for showing concern about their plight and noted that his visit had really showed that he has the well being of Ghanaians at heart.
