Six suspected robbers, two of whom are police officers, have been remanded into police custody by the Sunyani Magistrate Court “B”.
The six are believed to be members of a robbery gang that shot and killed a Police Constable, during an attack on passengers travelling on a mini-bus he was escorting from Kwame Danso to Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo region.
The crime was committed on June 07 at a spot between Bantama and Garadino near Kwame Danso.
The pleas of the accused - Corporal Solomon Adu, Lance Corporal Boniface Asiedu Mensah, Sumaila Zaaki, Abdul Aziz, Amadu Abdulai and Asafo Adjei were not taken,
They would make their next appearance on Monday, June 27.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that their arrest was based on police intelligence.
He said weapons including short guns and locally manufactured pistols, alongside fake currency were found during a search of a house belonging to Zaaki in Kwame Danso.
Also uncovered were 12 rounds of live AK 47 ammunition and live cartridges.
