Tottenham have snared Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton in a reported £11 million deal.
The transfer reunites Wanyama, who has penned a five-year deal at White Hart Lane, with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine signed the 24-year-old from Celtic in 2013 during his spell at Saints.
"I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham. It is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team," Wanyama said in an interview with African football website oka25east on Wednesday.
"I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together. I will always have a fond place for them in my heart."
Spurs have been long-term admirers of Wanyama, with a transfer first mooted last summer, and it is hoped his arrival will add steel to their midfielder ahead of next season’s Champions League duties.
He will likely contest a starting spot with Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll.
