TOR Tennis Club’s Ismailia Lamptey wins the maiden edition of Babolat Tema Tennis Championship, defeating GHACEM’s top seed Jacob Zannes 6-3, 6-1 last Saturday at the GHACEM Club House Tema Com 5.
The championship had members from TOR Tennis Club, Sakumono Tennis Club, Tema Tennis Club Maritime Tennis Club and GHACEM Tennis Club.
Ismailia Lamptey is now the no.1 in the Tema Tennis Ranking Log, speaking to tennisgh.com; he said “I’m amazed by how well I played today, adding that “I beat some amazing players on the way, If you believe in something, it can happen. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved”
He further said ‘we organised this first edition, I wanted this title badly and it’s a dream come true for me’.
Jacob Zannes admitted he was not at his best in the final but it was tough to keep up with Lamptey, who turned in one of his best performances.he added that “Credit to Ismailia for playing great tennis; he played so well and all of his balls were landing today and for me it was difficult to return his serve”.
