Real Madrid sealed their first win of the International Champions Cup in spectacular fashion with a 3-2 victory over Chelsea at the Michigan Stadium.
Full-back Marcelo recorded an impressive brace and Mariano added a third with a simply stunning strike in a lively first-half.
Substitute Eden Hazard pulled two goals back for the Blues in the second period but they left it too late to complete a comeback.
The Brazilian defender opened the scoring on 19 minutes with a deflected effort from all of 25 yards before adding a second after a brilliant solo run seven minutes later.
Real extended their lead further on 37 minutes when Mariano’s piledriver from 35 yards left Asmir Begovic with no chance and he could only watch as the ball hit the top corner of the net.
Zinedine Zidane made a number of changes in the second period and a youthful Real almost conceded victory as Chelsea piled on the pressure but time just ran out.
