Ghana striker Matthew Amoah catapulted NAC Breda to the top half of the Dutch league table on Wednesday night as he scored in their 3-1 away win over Excelsior.
The home team competed well at the start but could not make it to half-time on level terms as Amoah broke the deadlock six minutes before the interval.
The Ghanaian striker squeezed in the ball from a tight angle to give his side the lead.
Robbert Schilder then doubled NAC’s advantage on 75 minutes, although their two-goal cushion did not last long before Tim Vincken pulled one back for Excelsior.
Excelsior’s hopes of salvaging a draw were finally extinguished in the 90th minute when Ali Boussaboun struck NAC’s third.
The result lifts NAC to seventh in the Eredivisie, while Excelsior remain third from bottom and in deep trouble.
