An inter-denominational thanksgiving service to welcome officers and men of 66th Artillery Regiment from its six-months peacekeeping duties in Lebanon was held at Ho on Sunday.
It formed part of its corporate strategy to raise and maintain a high Esprit de corps among the personnel and improve on soldier-civilian relations.
Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Kotia, Commanding Officer of the regiment said the task in Lebanon under a new UN resolution 1701 was difficult but was accomplished with distinction by the personnel and none of them was charged for any offence during the period.
He said their duties included monitoring the Blue Line that separated Lebanon from Israel, observed borders in the area and carried out humanitarian functions.
Lt-Col Kotia, who was also the Commander of Ghanaian Battalion 65, said the experience of the personnel in rendering humanitarian service in Lebanon was an important lesson that would improve military-civilian relations at home.
He announced that the regiment's Supreme Canon Band that had been dormant would be reactivated.
Lt-Col Kotia expressed appreciation that all the personnel returned home safely and urged them to continue to pray to God for guidance.
Reverend Samuel Berko, Resident Pastor of Pentecost Church at the regiment, in a sermon said acknowledging the gratitude of God and people who "help us was a virtue that must be learnt by all".
A similar service was held to seek God's protection before the personnel left for the operations.Source: GNA
