One person died and another sustained gunshot wounds after armed robbers attacked a Kwahu Rural Bank bullion van in the Afram Plains South district of the Eastern region.
Some residents who witnessed the incident which happened on Tuesday afternoon said the driver of the bullion van was killed whilst a policeman escorting the van, sustained gunshot wounds.
Speaking to Joy News, an eyewitness said the vehicle veered off the road after the armed men fired shots at the driver.
“An armed policeman who was escorting the vehicle exchanged gunfire with the robbers. He sustained some injuries but he driver died instantly,” he indicted.
Police in the area are yet to make any arrest as the robbers fled into the bush after the incident.
