A-48-year old farmer at Obrawugum near Ajumako Besease in the Central Region who decided to shoot his suspected flirting wife had the shock of his life when the bullets narrowly missed the woman and killed his daughter.
A top Police Officer of the Ajumako Police Command, told newsmen at Ajumako over the weekend that the farmer, Opanyin Kofi Nyarko and the wife, Madam Ama Adjeiwaa lived at Obrawugum with their children, including the deceased Sara Nyarko.
He said sometime last year a self-styled pastor whose name was not disclosed came to stay with them during which they all prayed together.
The police said Opanyin Nyankoh became worried and suspicious about the close movement of the pastor and his wife so he asked him (Pastor) to discontinue his relationship with her.
He said Madam Adjeiwaa and the pastor did not end their relationship but the pastor rather moved to a nearby village where the woman this time visited and spent some days there.
The situation compelled the farmer to report to the nearby police stations at Ajumako and Besease and some elders of the village of the recent behaviour of the pastor and his wife but this also did not yield any fruitful results, he said.
The Police Officer said in the early hours of June 9 2007 when Opanyin Nyarko could no long put up with the situation he picked his single barrel gun to shoot wife but missed her narrowly and killed his daughter, Sara Nyarko who was preparing food for the family.
He said Sara's body had since been buried after autopsy at the Central Region Hospital while, Opanyin Nyarko has been placed in police custody to help the police in their investigation.
