Residents of ACP estate in Pokuase are threatening to pull down a private mortuary which was recently built in the community.
Some of the residents who attempted to destroy the structure yesterday were stopped by friends who advised that the owner be rather given an ultimatum to remove the facility.
They say they are taking the action because authorities have not acted on petitions they sent on the matter.
The livid residents said they appealed to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to intervene in the matter but the agency did not act on their appeals.
The residents are concerned the morgue may have health and other security implications.
Some residents who tried to prevent others from vandalizing the morgue called on the authorities to act quickly to save the situation.
The Ga West DCE Nii Armah Tackie says the Assembly has not given a permit for the construction of the morgue.
He said the assembly was looking into the issue.
