An Accra Circuit court on Thursday remanded a 63-year-old pensioner in police custody for defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old pupil.
Nii Thomas Kometey Cojie's plea was not taken pending further investigations.
But the court presided over by Mrs. Georgina Mensah-Daste remanded him in police custody to reappear on February 22.
The victim gave birth to a seven-month old premature baby this month and has been put in the incubator.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Sarah Acquah told the court that Grace Lomotey is the mother of the victim whilst the accused is her ex-boyfriend and they both lived at Kokrobite including the victim.
ASP Acquah said the relationship between Cojie and Grace broke down last year and as a result Grace went to live at James Town but left the victim to live with the accused.
She said Cojie started having sexual relations with the victim which resulted in the pregnancy.
Upon hearing the victim's delivery, Grace reported the mater to the DOVVSU.
She said Cojie admitted the offence when he was arrested.
