A 29-year- old trader, who inflicted deep knife wounds on the face and breasts of his girlfriend, out of jealousy has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Dennis Okyere Frimpong pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm.
The court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey heard from Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei that the complainant, Dorcas Ofinam, is unemployed and has been in a relationship with the convict for the past one year.
On February 10, Frimpong invited her to his house under the pretext of giving her some items brought from London to him by the mother.
When she got there he locked the door and began questioning her about her supposedly unfaithfulness, which she denied.
The prosecution said Frimpong did not accept her claim of innocence, picked a knife and attacked her while she screamed for help.
This attracted some people in the neighbourhood who pleaded with the convict to unlock the door.
Dorcas was found in a pool of blood and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was kept on admission overnight.
