The Millennium Development Authority has reiterated its two-week ultimatum to occupants of a stretch of land earmarked to accommodate the expansion of the Tetteh-Quarshie-Mallam road. The N1 Highway project, funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation is said to have stalled because settler traders and owners of structures along the road are refusing to leave for contractors to do their work. MIDA Chief Executive, Martin Eson-Benjamin tells Joy News, the authority cannot back down as this will further delay the project as well as increase costs. He said although majority of the people had been paid compensation, they had remained in the place creating problems for the contractor.
