Black Stars’ mercurial midfielder Michael Essien is expected back in national colours later in June, Joy Sports can confirm.
Head of Sports at Joy FM Ernest Koranteng who is in England for the historic Ghana, England international friendly says the player revealed his return date after meeting with FA officials.
Essien called for a temporary time-off with the Black Stars after suffering two successive career threatening injuries in the national colours which kept him out of action for nearly a year.
His decision evoked lots of passions with many questioning the patriotism of the Chelsea star.
Only recently the player was reported to have announced his availability for the double header between Congo Brazzaville and England, but the Chelsea star was quick in his denial.
He said on his personal website he will soon return to the Black Stars but definitely not for the two crucial matches in March.
He has however confirmed a June return date, Koranteng insists.
Michael Essien is likely to be present in Wembley when Ghana take on England but only as a fan.
