Some students of the University of Ghana are reported to have molested a lady who allegedly posed as a student and stole phones and laptops at the university.
Joy News has learnt the students also sexually abused the suspected thief known only as Amina and the molestation filmed by the perpetrators.
A video intercepted by Joy News shows an angry mob inserting their fingers into the private parts of the girl; she tried to cover her private parts with her hands when the students stripped her naked.
Security officers from the University however managed to whisk her away to the police station after the molestation.
Crime officer at the Legon police station, Emmanuel Basintale said Amina has been on the police wanted list for months now.
She is said to have committed a similar crime on campus last semester.
The Crime Officer said the students who molested the suspect were being pursued by the police.
Joy News’ Francisca Forson reported some students told her Amina had been stealing their mobile phones.
University authorities have yet to comment on the matter.
A gender activist, Mrs Angela Dwamena-Aboagye has condemned the conduct of the students, and called on the university authorities to take action against the students involved.
She said even if the suspect committed a crime, it was morally wrong to sexually abuse her.
The Students Representative Council of the university has condemned the act and has promised to assist the police to identify the perpetrators of the act.
