Coach Zdravko Logarusic excluded seven players from Sunday’s friendly against King Faisal and also ordered their pay cuts for reporting late for the trial match. The seven – goalkeepers, Felix Annan and Ernest Sowah; defenders Evans Quao and Eric Donkor; midfielders, Akwasi Nti and Emmanuel Gyamfi and striker, Kwame Boateng couldn’t be found during reporting time.
Assistant Coach Michael Osei told Asantekotokosc.com that, the seven players reported to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after their 2pm reporting time. "All of the players were told to report at the stadium at 2pm but the seven players came late. Some of them were 15 minutes late while others were 30 minutes late. So Coach Zdravko ordered them out" said Michael Osei.
Asked if there was going to be additional punishment, Michael Osei answered in the affirmative, saying: “They will suffer pay cuts but we have not yet decided on how much”. In the match itself, the Porcupines beat King Faisal by 2-0 with two first half goals by Kwame Boahene and Yakubu Mohammed.
Sunday’s match was the third in the pre-season period. In the first match, Kotoko lost 0-1 to Unity FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium but they whipped Asokwa Deportivo 3-0 at Adako Jachie in their second match.
