At least five people are feared dead after a Tata Bus and a DAF truck collided on the Techiman-Kintampo road, Friday morning.

The Tata Bus was travelling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi when it collided with the DAF Truck which was loaded with tomatoes and was en route to Burkina Faso.

The incident happened at around 4:50 AM at Bono Manso in the Brong Ahafo region.

Joy News' Anass Sabit Anass reports that some other people who were injured in the accident have been rushed to the Holy Family Hospital for treatment.

It has been confirmed that the former fire safety officer with the Ghana National Fire Service for Techiman, ASO Nicholas Anobiga is one of the casualties of Friday's accident.

Mr Anobiga was transferred from Techiman to the Ghana National Fire Service head office in Accra in the last quarter of 2016. He was traveling from the Upper East regional capital of Bolgatanga to Kumasi when the unfortunate incident happened.

Mr Anobiga left behind a wife and 3 children.

In all, nine persons are confirmed dead with 16 others injured and responding to treatment at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital. 

The 27-year-old supposed driver of the DAF truck, identified as Nasiru Dramani, is said to be in critical condition and has been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi for further treatment.

Six of the deceased were males, while the remaining three were females.
