The Chief of Staff has constituted a National task force to retrieve state assets in the custody of individuals suspected to be with the previous government.
Akosua Frema Osei-Opare stated that the assets which include landed properties and vehicles are yet to be handed to government which is contrary to the laws of the country.
The statement follows reports of seizures of cars said to be in the custody of National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress Kofi Adams.
Some military men were said to have invaded the property of Mr Adams and made away with five cars they suspect belonged to the state.
But the National Security Advisor Kan Dapaah has apologised to Mr Adams for the conduct of the personnel.
He said the operation was not officially sanctioned by his appointment.
In what looks like an official operation to recover all state properties still in the hands of private people the Chief of Staff announced the setting up of the task force which is made up of officials from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division), the Bureau of National Investigations, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority and the Office of the president.
"Persons with state properties unlawfully in their possession should endeavour to contact the task force and make arrangements to surrender same with immediate effect.
"The general public is also, hereby, encouraged to provide information on any properties believed to be within the above mentioned category to the task force...," the statement said.
