Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. K.K. Sarpong has denied match fixing allegations in their Glo premier league week 28 fixture with Tudu Mighty Jets at the Ohene Djan stadium over the weekend.Relegation threatened Mighty Jets who needed a win badly to boost their chances of remaining in the premier league next season won the match by two goals to nil.
There had been earlier reports indicating the two clubs had reached an agreement to play a match of convenience.In an interview on Asempa FM’s sports morning show, Dr. Sarpong noted that there was no such discussion of playing a match of convenience to favour any team and as far as he was concerned, they went all out to win the game but it was just unfortunate they lost.According to him, Kotoko needed the three points badly in their quest to clinch the second spot.Kumasi Asante Kotoko who is looking forward to win their last two matches are 4th on the league table with 43 points.They play Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in a week 29 league fixture.Benedict Owusu Danquah/Asempa Sports/Ghana
