Ashanti Region Police Command is urging the public come forth with information that will lead to the arrest of persons who mob attacked a lady accused of stealing from a shop in Kumasi.
Police say 24 people have so far been arrested on suspicion of stripping naked and abusing the unidentified lady.
The arrested persons are assisting with the investigation, police have said.
Kumasi Central Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Henry Agbeve, has described the incident as unfortunate and urged Ghanaians to have faith in the justice system to deal with their grievances instead of resorting to mob action.
Police say they are conducting further investigation.
In a release Wednesday, police want "members of the public who have information on the perpetrators of this heinous crime" to contact them immediately.
The release signed by Director of Public Affairs, Superintendent of Police, Cephas Arthur, is entreating the public "to contact the Ashanti Regional Police Command or call police emergency numbers: MTN & Vodafone short-code 18555 or 191 on all networks," with credible information that will move efforts to arrest the attackers forward.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a fair lady is seen stripped naked and sexually assaulted in public by a mob over the alleged theft.

Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor reported on Wednesday that women, mostly traders, who volunteered information that led to the arrest of the some of the attackers have also been picked up to assist with ongoing investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the assaulted lady remains unknown.
Shortly after the video went viral, many have condemned the heinous treatment of the woman.
