Sympathizers of the two candidates contesting the NDC Presidential slot have come together for a peace and unity march, ahead of the party’s National Delegates’ Congress next month.
Members of the Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) and Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR)in Kumasi say the event scheduled for Republic Day is aimed at uniting members of the ruling party who are divided over the candidature of President Mills and Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
Luv FM’s Elton John Brobbey reports that a member of the Communication team of GAME in the Ashanti Region, Francis Dodovi believes the 1st July unity march would be used as a platform to calm tensions within the two camps ahead of the July 8th Congress.
“We are bringing on board all the political groups within the political party… We want to kick start a unity march just to demonstrate to our political opponents that unity is very important,” he explained.
He said there is no animosity among party members and that the media have just hyped the competition over the flagbearership slot. He therefore wants this march to serve as an indication of the peace and tranquility in the NDC.
