The first day of the National Delegates Congress of the National Democratic Congress passed with organisers feverishly preparing to host over 3,000 delegates who will vote in the history-making, political career-changing event in the country. A host of security officials – the police and military – have invaded the Congress grounds to ensure that the event passes without any chaos, as a hint of trouble could jeopardise an election characterised by insults, accusations, Yutong bus analogies and a great deal of groups springing up from no where in particular. The dais for dignitaries are all set whiles delegates are being ushered to their places of rest for Satuday's contest. Traders carrying NDC paraphernalia are cashing in on the event as the red, black, green and white colours of the party have whitewashed the Sunyani Corronation Park and its environs. Media personnel are also working assiduously to obtain their accreditation in order to get to the venue where all the drama will unfold on Saturday. Officials of the the contestants have been trying to outdo each side on the airwaves at the media stands. Michael Teye Nyaunu, Member of Parliament fo Lower Manyah has re-echoed his believe that an incompetent President Mills must be changed so that the Yutong bus does not crush. An aide to the President, Stanislove Dogbe who vehemently opposed such a position implored the Rawlingses and the members of FONKAR to join hands with the winning team in order to assure the NDC of victory come 2012. The exchanges got so heated up to the extent that they began to verbally assault each other. But as if to say this was a family affair, the two gentlemen made up and hugged to shrug of the momentary awkwardness.
