Some major political parties have given thumps up to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for having a successful congress. The NDC had their congress on Saturday to elect President Mills as flagbearer for the 2012 elections.Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Jake Obetsebi Lamptey says the NDC deserves commendation for an incident free congress.“We should congratulate the NDC for a violence-free congress [and] a deepening of the democratic process,” he said.He however said he was not surprised at the results as it depicts the mentality of members of the party. He said the congress showed an interesting side of the NDC: that they are good at elections and not at fashioning out visions or policies for the country. In his view, the NPP would capitalize on this weakness to appeal to the voters ahead of the 2012 polls. On his part, the General Secretary of the Peoples’ National Convention Bernard Monah says the PNC has taken a cue from the NDC for their upcoming congress. He said “we see what has happened in the NDC as an improvement in the internal democratic culture that we have all been craving for, and so it is important for all of us politicians to find ways that we can work to harmonise our differences.”Source: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
