Benni McCarthy’s agent insists he is no rush to secure a new club for Bafana Bafana's record goalscorer.
The 33-year-old has been without a club since he parted company with West Ham United following a R17-million payoff in April.
He has been linked with moves to the MLS in the past, but Rob Moore does not think anything will be resolved until at least the end of the month.
“He’s still on holiday so there is nothing yet,” Moore tells KickOff.com. “I spoke to him the other day and he had just got back from Disneyland with his family, but Benni just wants to take a bit of time to decide his next move.”
McCarthy almost joined QPR last season, but his high wage demands ended that prospect. His well-catalogued problems with his weight are likely to put off any potential suitors in England, but Moore last month ruled out a return to South Africa.
Elsewhere, Moore’s ExtraTime Agency is expecting busy few weeks after completing news transfers for Kenyan Victor Wanyama and Algerian Brahim Boudebouba.
He reveals that former Bafana winger Elrio van Heerden is hoping to leave Belgians Westerlo, but does not expect him to return to the PSL.
“Besides Benni, what we have to look at is Van Heerden and what is going to happen with him. We are going to work on that over the next few weeks and see what we can come up with, but he definitely wants to stay in Europe,” says Moore.
