The Asawasi Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has congratulated President John Atta Mills on his election as flag-bearer of the party in the recent National Delegates’ Congress at Sunyani, in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
They contended that the landslide victory chalked by the President was indicative of the enormous support he enjoys among the rank and file of the NDC and urged all and sundry to double their efforts to ensure total victory for the party in 2012.
“ It is also our hope that President Mills would bring on board all key personalities, including former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang, in his campaigns to help make the party more formidable to retain power.”
This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Joseph Boarle Salifu, the Constituency Secretary and issued in Kumasi on Sunday.
The statement described the Congress as very historic and stressed that the matured and able manner in which the NDC demonstrated internal democracy was commendable.
It said now that the curtains on the Congress had been drawn, it was the duty of all to bury their differences and always pursue the overall interest of the party.
It called for the scrapping off of all supporting and interest groups in the run up to the election to foster unity of purpose in the party.
