The Western Regional Delegates Congress of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) on Saturday ended abruptly when the election of Regional Executives of the party was put on hold.
At the last minute, Chairman of the Regional Electoral Committee Comrade Samuel Etroo of the party protested the candidature of three persons for various executive positions because he said they had the same party number.
The committee was not clear whether the cards of the three were forged or not and asked that the election be put off until the problem was clarified by the Central Committee of the party.
The delegates did not re-convene after officials from the Regional office of the Electoral Commission (EC) left the scene with the ballot boxes.
Earlier, addressing the congress, Comrade Samuel Etroo, the Regional Chairman of the CPP said the party was in crisis and it was the responsibility of all members to restore it to its former position, glory and stature.
He said the right people must be elected as executives to lead the party to victory in 2012.
Comrade Etroo said he would not condone fraudulent means being used by some persons to occupy executive positions in the party in the region adding, he did not want to be involved in such criminal acts.
He denied allegations that he had embezzled funds from the National Headquarters.
Leading members of the party, including Paa Kwesi Nduom, Comrade Ladi Nylander, National Chairman of the Party, and Ms Samia Yaaba Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Jomoro attended the congress.
