Residents of Obuasi are living in fear following the death of six people in the area in what is suspected to be an outbreak of meningitis.
Nine others are still on admission with their lives hanging on the rope.
Luv FM’s Kwabena Ampretwum reported, Tuesday, the residents are living in trepidation not knowing who the next victim will be.
“Meningitis spread by air and can be spread by water. They are so scared that they might get infected.
“Within the past six days the disease has killed six people. It infects you, probably in the evening and the next day you are gone,” he gathered from the residents.
The residents are even more worried with the failure by health officials to assure them and provide them with the right information about symptoms and prevention of the disease.
Mourning the souls of the six departed residents, Ampretwum believes at the belly of the mourners is a deep fear of a deadly disease they know very little about.
The Assembly man for the area has tried to help but surely is inadequate on information about the disease, Ampratwum noted.
