The entire membership of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) in the Upper West Region have joined other members in parts of the country to declare their total support for the decision of the leadership of the party to hold talks with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement signed by the Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Kwame Mumuni, the group disclosed that “we are in full support of whatever steps the leadership is taking on our behalf and we will stand by them”.
It said those who were opposed to the move were only few people who were still embittered by events of the past, adding, “we have decided to go this way in the interest of the DFP and the NDC so there must be no hindrance to such a positive way”.
According to the statement, the vast majority of the members of the party in the region and indeed the whole Ghana are behind the leadership of the party and advised that the talks must go ahead.
“We have known our party leadership for a long time and believe that any decision taken will be in favour of our entire membership so let us support them to achieve this noble idea which we believe will be in the interest of the DFP,” it added.
It would be recalled that the DFP broke away from the NDC some few years ago.
