One week, no show….

May 1 was the official starting date for Ghana’s coach Kwesi Appiah. Seven days on and there is little or no knowledge about his plans for the team nor his backroom staff who will be integral to his work. Despite officially starting work last Monday, the coach had been spotted at league centers monitoring and launching a Ghana @ 60 game prior to May 1 but the spotlight has not been given to the coach. Appiah still has a few doubters to prove right and the step to help turn the corner begins right from his first press conference. Most often than not, his vision are outlined in there but as at now there is NO SHOW. Has his contract been signed? Is there a clause? What are his targets? Could the FA possibly be busy or details of his contract are still being sort out. “Time no dey”. We need to hit the ground running.

Pathetic Ashantigold need grace…

2015 league champions Ashantigold are in a real mess. Rock bottom, most defeats, least victories and all this appalling stats make a good read for relegation. Accusing fingers can be pointed. Fans, management, players, conspiracy theories and the likes can all be the cause of the downfall of a great club but all these components with the exception of the theories can come together to fix the mess. The Miners are one of the few traditional clubs in the league this season and must rely on all their expertise to put the Miners back on track. Losing Ashantigold and their impressive Len Clay stadium could be one of those “I don’t believe it moments.”

Struggling Porcupines must sit up….

Vincent Atingah scored to give Hearts their first win over Kotoko in Accra in over eight years. Little did the robust defender know he was hitting Kotoko with a “K) fie K) wu” ( go and home and die). Ever since that defeat, Kotoko have been sixes at and sevens. Six games after that, no win and a sacked coach. The team has moved from a defensively solid unit to a leaky home letting in goals for fun. Stop gap coaches have often provided solutions but in Frimpong Manso more questions have rather arisen. Did Kotoko get it wrong in the transfer market again? Is there a case of sabotage? Were the players failing to grab Zdravko’s concept instead of the Croatian being inept? Kotoko has to “look sharp”, a third year straight without a league title is unpardonable for their standard.

Mou seems to get United settling for less…

It is without dispute that standards have dropped at Old Trafford since Alex Ferguson departed but it seems this has reached an all-time low now. Fans of the club have been made to believe to settle for less (Europa league victory as the best route to Champions League) despite the talents and wealth the club possess.  United competed for the league title only in the opening 5 weeks of the season and fell off miserably afterwards.  Bear in mind Louis van Gaal finished 4th in his first season and only lost out on 4th in his last season by virtue of an inferior goal difference. But the man believed to be the special one might fall off the 4th place even with the 4 key signings he asked for and got. A team of Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could lead teams in the division  to championship glory but someway somehow, fans have been  made to believe the team that lost against Arsenal were not good enough. Mourinho fielder a similarly “weakened team” against  Liverpool three seasons ago with Demba Ba feeding off Steven Gerrard’s slip. Tom Kalas was thrown into the deep just as Axel Tunazebe had at the Emirates. On that occasion, Mourinho was hailed for a tactical masterclass so why change the standard when he has lost?

Tyson who? Give Banku a chance....

Bukom Banku dominated the airwaves on Saturday afternoon as he released juicy quotes after quotes.But the one which certainly could be considered is his belief to defeat Anthony Joshua and the boxer minced now words.

‘’I would love to fight Joshua, am serious about it and will beat him if we fight. I know some people will doubt me because Joshua is unbeaten and has beaten some top guys[Klitschko] in his division but they also have to trust me[their countryman] I will beat him[Joshua] hands down. I watched his fight with Klitschko and was not impressed with him but happy he defeated the Ukrainian.‘’For Klitschko he cannot stand me so don’t want to fight him’’

It is well documented that “If you don't buy a ticket you can't win the raffle” and Banku is willing to give it a shot. All hands can be put on deck to make this happen. Who knows? he could be the man to stop Joshua.
